Warranty Policy


This document sets out the warranty policy of the Besser Lighting (“BL”) organization from which you (‘Purchaser’) purchase your professional luminaires. This policy is applicable only to Besser Lighting branded professional luminaires (‘Products’) purchased from January 2017. BL does not warrant the photoelectric controls, which are covered by the applicable warranty (if any) of the company that manufactured the photoelectric controls.

Warranty Period:

The warranty period starts on the date of invoice for a period of five (5) years from the date of shipment from BL’s facilities. The LED arrays in the Product(s) will be considered defective in material or workmanship only if a total of 15% or more of the individual light emitting diodes in the Product(s) fail to illuminate. This warranty policy is only valid when products are properly installed and operated in application conditions as specified in the product datasheet. Purchaser receives this ‘standard warranty’ by default. On request, an ‘extended warranty’ or ‘customized project warranty’ can be agreed after evaluation of the specific application conditions. Purchaser shall not rely on any other information or documentation.

Terms and conditions:

This Limited Warranty is VOID if Purchaser or the user fails to comply with any applicable instructions and recommendations of BL; if any components are replaced with components of other manufacturers; or if the Product is operated outside the specified electrical values or is subject to abnormal use or stress, including under/over voltage conditions, excessive switching cycles, and operation in environmental conditions (e.g., ambient temperature) outside normal specified operating range.

BL shall not be responsible for any failure of Products that result from external causes, including, but not limited to, acts of God; power surges that exceed product specification; improper power supply; fault or negligence of the Purchaser or user; improper or unauthorized use, installation, handling, storage, maintenance, alteration or service; any abuse, misuse, abnormal use or use in violation of any applicable standard, code or instructions for use in installations including those contained in the latest National Electrical Code (NEC), the Standards for Safety of Underwriters Laboratory, Inc. (UL), Standards for the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), in Canada, the Canadian Standards Association (CSA), Europe (CE), Australia (C-Tick); or any cause other than a defect in the material or workmanship of the Product itself.
Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in this Limited Warranty, the LED module of the Product shall not be deemed to fail to meet the warranties above unless ten percent (10%) or more of the LEDs in the module do not light. This limited warranty extends only to Purchaser, but BL will honor, under the terms of this Limited Warranty, valid warranty claims by Purchaser arising from a failure to meet the above warranty when the Product has been resold in new condition and used only by the original end user.

Protection for the purchaser:

If a Product fails to meet the warranty set forth above, then BL will, at its option, either (i) repair the defective Product, (ii) provide a free replacement Product or replacement parts, F.O.B. BL’s warehouse, or (iii) refund the purchase price paid to BL for the Product or replacement parts. Any replacement Product or part will be comparable in function, but may not be identical to the original. The replacement or repaired Product is warranted for the remainder of the original warranty period. BL is not responsible for labor and other costs associated with removal or re-installation.

Warranty Management:

Besser Lighting’s warranty applies only to BL customers and never to third parties.
Warranty claims must be notified by BL to your agent Besser Lighting / Commercial Department. Besser Lighting or Technical Department: and at least the following information must be specified (additional information can be requested):
- Defective product (reference).
- Installation date, invoice date and invoice / delivery note number and customer order number.
- Detailed description of the problem and the quantity of faults, date of failure, ...
- Application, hours of operation per day and switching cycles.

BL may manage the collection of the product with incidence for analysis. It will be through your transportation agencies, no charges will be accepted from other client agencies.
The product must be accompany an incident document with the data previously requested. Copy of invoice or copy of purchase ticket can be requested.
